Our European Transport and Logistics Practice:  

L.E.K.’s Transport and Logistics Practice is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy across the European region.  As one of our most dynamic and fastest growing practice areas, Transport and Logistics has a client base that features some of the biggest and most innovative names in the sector, covering multiple modes of transportation (air, ferry, rail, bus, coach, micro-mobility), transport technology, logistics operations and software, new mobility platforms, and the enablers that ensure passengers and goods get to where they need to be efficiently and profitably.

 

To achieve our growth objectives, we will continue to enrich our expertise, develop and launch new service lines to our clients, increase collaboration and coordination within the region and with Transport teams around the world, and attract and promote the best talent.



What we are looking for: 

Reporting to the European sector lead, interfacing directly with other sector partners, and working closely with colleagues on the European Commercial Team, the European Transport and Logistics Sector Specialist role is central to these goals.  The role is the principal point of expertise about our Transport practice in Europe, its experience and services, and how they relate to client organisations.  The Sector Specialist will provide critical input to marketing and demand generation activity, client proposals, client relationship management and overall sector strategy and management. This position will be based in our rapidly growing and entrepreneurial Madrid, Spain office, and work closely with colleagues across the European region and indeed globally, with periodic travel to collaborate in-person with the team.

 

The ideal candidate will be driven and proactive, highly organised and a natural communicator, with an understanding of the consulting industry and a strong desire to take an active role in the development of the practice capabilities and new business opportunities.

 

Specific skills:

IP and client development

  • Support the assembly and creation of high quality proposals and pitch-packs for use with L.E.K.’s clients
  • Assist in the development of new content and insights leveraging the research and analysis of project teams
  • Identify strategic trends in Transport and Logistics sub-sectors to inform sector points of view and marketing programmes
  • Liaise closely with sector Partners and Principals to package relevant project experience for pitch packs and proposals

Sector strategic initiatives

  • Work directly with the European sector lead to support execution of sector strategy
  • Ensure sector strategic initiatives are advancing as agreed; coordinates workstreams among Partners, staff, and core services stakeholders
  • Manage meeting agendas with input/confirmation from Partners (regular partner and staff meetings; strategy away-days; etc.), minute meetings and follow up agreed next actions
  • Prepare materials for sector meetings, including any research, fact-base building, and analysis to support agendas
  • Support strategic planning at the sub-sector/service line/key theme level, programme-managing ongoing initiatives
  • Manages internal sector communications (newsletters, progress updates, milestones, etc.) to sector stakeholders at all levels
  • Provide support for the adoption and tailoring of new service lines within the practice (e.g., "sectorising" generic service line capabilities)
  • Link with peer sector specialists to leverage their capabilities and support sector strategic objectives at a global level 

Case team engagement

  • Contribute to case team kick-offs by providing the most relevant prior case work and best practice materials
  • Synthesize case-generated IP into tools / templates / guidebooks that support and ease case team execution

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified as a minimum
  • The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience as an analyst in a consulting or similar professional services / advisory environment
  • Proven understanding of business concepts and their practical applications
  • Interest in, but not necessarily deep experience in, transport segments
  • Superior commercial research and analytical skills combined with proven expertise in market analysis
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and activities at once and flexibility to re-prioritize
  • Expert PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • English fluency required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Additional languages, particularly French, German, Spanish, desirable
