A key part of L.E.K.’s mission is a commitment to the professional development of our staff. Our professional development team conceives and manages a variety of training programs designed to provide our staff with the tools they need to grow and succeed at L.E.K. and beyond. Reporting to the Director of Talent Development, the Professional Development Manager (PDM) is the owner of L.E.K.’s learning experiences. We offer over 150 learning experiences to over 400 Americas-based professionals at all levels of the firm, lead global training efforts for Managers and Principals, and have set aggressive goals to bolster the professional development of our staff.

 

The PDM role is a critical strategic role within the firm. The PDM works closely with the Director of Talent Development, the Chief Talent Officer and Managing Directors to set the direction for staff development at L.E.K. This role provides the daily opportunity to positively impact our staff, and in turn our clients. The PDM provides far-reaching leadership across the firm, both in a highly visible manner (leading annual training sessions) as well as behind-the-scenes (owning PD curriculum, partnering on key firm initiatives, etc.). The ideal candidate has management consulting experience, is passionate about developing our staff and can leverage his / her experience to both improve case execution on a broad scale and enable the delivery of a quality, insightful product for our clients.

Responsibilities

Learning experience ownership and authorship

  • Work closely with the Director of Talent Development, senior staff, HR team, sectors, and functional groups to assess how case execution can be improved, identify trends from performance reviews, establish specific learning goals, and create learning experiences that meet these goals
  • Collaborate with sectors and functional groups to understand industry and client needs and pivot learning and training approaches as necessary
  • Engage staff to gather feedback and ensure the PD program is delivering a value-added service as they think about their career path at L.E.K. and more broadly
  • Drive long-term PD curriculum initiatives as defined in the PD Strategic Plan (e.g., support staff transitions to Manager, enable excellent verbal communication across staff levels, cultivate a culture of client impact, etc.)
  • Learn new concepts quickly, and at a depth where courses can be developed
  • Manage allocated consulting staff as needed to execute on workstreams and content updates/development
  • Develop learning and development expertise by attending conferences, developing external networks, etc.

PD strategic direction

  • Drive continued innovation in PD program and delivery approach
  • Engage Office Heads and the broader Managing Director group on PD strategy and progress

PD operational excellence

  • Collaborate with PD Operations Specialist to ensure efficient and consistent execution of the PD program
  • Lead courses for annual training sessions
  • Strategically source external trainers, coaches, and skills providers as needed

Performance analysis and quality improvement

  • Measure and report out on PD program progress
  • Work with PD Operations Specialist to employ L.E.K.-grade primary research methods and analysis to ensure PD program is producing results and exceeding expectations of all constituent groups

HR and L.E.K. citizenship

  • Support the broader goals of the HR team and firm-wide L.E.K. initiatives
  • Assist with HR initiatives and activities where needed
  • Maintain unwavering confidentially with HR information
  • Exhibit a visible footprint and leadership within the firm

Required Skills

  • Management consulting experience
  • Proven understanding of business concepts and their practical applications
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Expert PPT and Excel skills; willingness and ability to learn recording, e-learning and training software as needed
  • Superb analytical skills; experience with or willingness to learn analytical software applications (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; engaging and effective presentation skills
  • Team oriented: strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the firm (from Core Services, to new hire A1, to global leadership team)
  • Professional and demonstrates integrity at all times
  • A passion for teaching, training, mentoring, and coaching

 

Location: Boston. 10% travel required for training events (2018 training destinations include Chicago, LA, Cape Cod and Newport RI).
