Associate Consultant

The Associate Consultant is responsible for a broad work stream and will develop the hypothesis, structure the approach and lead junior team members. This role also requires the Associate Consultant to start building leadership skills and take on increasing responsibilities. Associate Consultants continues to play a crucial role in gathering, analysing and synthesising research and data to address the client’s core issues.

This role will be based in Singapore and will involve frequent travel to China. You will work closely with the Partners and play an integral role in business development of our Global Education Practice.

While casework needs will vary every day, the main responsibilities of an Associate Consultant include:

Gathering primary data on markets, competitors, and customers through database and Internet searches, market research and other commercial reports, internal client data, and telephone and in-person interviews.

  • Drafting story lines and structures the blank slides for a specific module
  • Identifies QC issues and ensures consistency when reviewing client output and internal packs and case documentation
  • Developing rigorous strategic and financial analysis that will be utilised to determine L.E.K.'s recommendation to the client. Examples include developing a spreadsheet model of market growth and competitor share, developing a valuation model for a company or product using discounted cash flow analysis, testing customer sensitivity to product attributes using adaptive conjoint analysis, or determining probability distributions of acquisition value.
  • Collaborating with project team members to derive trends, conclusions, and recommendations based upon the analysis. An Associate Consultant must transform what he or she has learned into thoughtful insights regarding the client's strategic direction.
  • Coaching junior colleagues and transferring skills, offering constructive advice, and positively contributing to the workplace environment.

Qualifications and experience needed

Overall, a clear drive to join the world of strategy consulting and an understanding of what this entails. L.E.K. seeks highly motivated, creative, and entrepreneurial candidates who possess strong business and finance skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, leadership qualities, and uncompromising ethics. Prior experience in consulting is preferred, or an advanced degree.

For the Singapore office, Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential. For this role, you must be a native Mandarin speaker. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their motivations for working in Southeast Asia.
