We are looking for a senior leader to join our Transport Practice as Principal. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects for government and top 200 ASX listed companies. At L.E.K. we work on the most complex strategic problems facing industry and government. In this role you will be able to make impactful change on the Australian transport ecosystem. Our projects are typically 3-8 weeks in length, providing great exposure and development opportunity. You will also have the opportunity to work across our other industry verticals, to broaden out your skill set.

What you will do

A Principal is considered a leader and mentor to staff at all levels across the firm and is typically on a pathway to Partner. Principals will actively participate in firm business development efforts and serve as trusted advisors to L.E.K. clients.

Day to day requirements of the Principal role can be grouped into the broad categories of;

    Thought Leadership & Client Impact

    • Manage multiple, highly-complex projects simultaneously, including project financials 
    • Demonstrate mastery of core craft skills (e.g., analysis, writing, communications, agenda-setting, project management, client-handling)
    • Lead high-level presentations and discussions, and play lead role in developing and advancing clients’ agendas
    • As as an emerging thought leader within the firm, contribute to high impact, marketable intellectual capital; develop and market perspectives or expertise that demonstrates the firm’s capabilities

    Commercial Acumen

    • Demonstrate clear evidence of evolving commercial capabilities
    • Active in proposal development, targeted sales/pitch meetings and leverage a broad community of contacts in client development activities

    Team Leadership & People Development

    • Effectively build and lead teams, and show commitment to personal development

    Firm Leadership

    • Exhibit leadership and role-model behaviors

    What we are looking for

    The successful candidate will have the experience required to contribute to the Transport Practice's business development and revenue generation. Specifically, we are looking for:

    • 8+ years’ experience in management consulting within the Transportation sector with experience in surface transport (bus, tram, train or other) and/or new modes of mobility
    • A mix of strategy, commercial, policy and/or major capital project experience, across private and public sectors
    • Highly motivated, creative, and entrepreneurial individuals with strong commercial acumen
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated experience managing teams or end to end project management
    • Comfort with ambiguity and change
    • Strong written and verbal skills, and comfort with numerical analysis
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing and dynamic environment with integrity, patience and a sense of humour
